EDITORIAL: The End of the EU is Nigh, But Be Careful In Regards To What You Wish For

Ne News 29 November 2016 In recent days, there has been reports that the European Union is on the verge following the Brexit vote back in June, with express.co.uk reporting that the President of the EU Commission Jean-Claude Juncker telling EU member-states to not hold any more referendums with a fear that the people will vote to leave (http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/737493/Jean-Claude-Juncker-EU-referendum-voters-choose-Leave-eurosceptism); and the Dr. Rath Health Foundation also noted that the European Union project will fail if an event not too different to that of the Brexit happens again (http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/News/2016/November.html#comment0465). Next year, there will be a Presidential election in France which will likely be between centre-right Francois Fillon and far-right Marine Le Pen, both pledging to withdraw France from the European Union (http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/737713/france-election-end-EU-germaine-greer-ITV). However, as mentioned...

An Insider's View: The Dark Rigidity of Fundamentalist Rural America

Forsetti's Justice Alternet 22 November 2016 As the aftermath of the election of Donald Trump is being sorted out, a common theme keeps cropping up from all sides: "Democrats failed to understand white, working-class, fly-over America.” Trump supporters are saying this. Progressive pundits are saying this. Talking heads across all forms of the media are saying this. Even some Democratic leaders are saying this. It doesn’t matter how many people say it, it is complete bullshit. It is an intellectual/linguistic sleight of hand meant to throw attention away from the real problem. The real problem isn’t east coast elites who don’t understand or care about rural America. The real problem is rural America doesn’t understand the causes of their own situations and fears and they have shown no interest in finding out. They don’t want to know why they feel the way they do or why they are struggling because they don’t want to admit it is in large part because of choice...

Unbridled Global Capitalism: People Wake Up! Time is Running Out!

Peter Koenig Global Research 23 November 2016 Washington has shown us again on 8 November that they offer only the choice between risking nuclear annihilation of humanity and total corporate privatization of our lives and our live services that we, the people, have created. The latter means impoverishment and enslavement to corporations for the majority of the population. It is a choice between the Satan and Lucifer. Here are just a few examples of what the establishment gets away with and nobody protests. The UN Human Rights Commission Expels Russia On 28 October 2016, the UN kicked Russia out of the UN Human Rights Commission , but keeps Saudi Arabia and of course the US in the HRC – both of which are the largest, most audacious human rights abusers of our planet. This is the first time in HRC’s history that a member of the Security Council was voted out. The reasons given by the western vassals was Russia’s involvement in Syria, “bombing hospitals and c...

President-Elect Donald Trump and “The Deep State”: Vote Rigging by Both Sides… Key Appointments

Peter Koenig Global Research 15 November 2016 The elections may have been rigged, probably by both sides, as the elusive elite, or what’s also called the ’Deep State’, may be divided. It looks like the better ‘rigger’ emerged as the winner. The final popular vote count indicates a slight advantage of Hillary over Trump. Never mind, the system was purposefully designed un-democratically in the 18 th Century by the Founding Fathers, who never really had the intention to create a truly democratic United States of America of equal rights for all. The current electoral system favors vote manipulation especially in Swing States, where popular votes can relatively easily be suppressed or switched by an electronic ‘glitch’. Such voter frauds, we now know, have happened in 2000, when George Bush ‘won’ in Florida over Al Gore – eventually through a Supreme Court decision – and the same in 2004 (Ohio), when again George Bush won over John Kerry, through electronic fra...

Is This The End?

Ne News 14 November 2016 If you haven't heard, it looks like the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership is now dead, with US President Barack Obama not going to pass it through Congress during the lame-duck session before Donald Trump takes over the White House. But it could be Europe that will determine the future of the world could rest on Europe. As you may remember earlier this year (and in particular the last couple of episodes of Ne News on Radio Fodder back in June), we covered the Brexit when the people of the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. Well, next month the Italians go to a referendum, which could send shockwaves through Europe and could see the breakup of the European Union (http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/731484/Italian-referendum-shockwaves-European-Union-financial-markets). And also, in Bulgaria (which joined the European Union in 2007 along with Romania), the European Union was dealt with a huge blow with pro-Putin candid...

EDITORIAL: Why We Need To Be Wary of Trump

Ne News 12 November 2016 On Tuesday evening (AEDT), it was announced that Donald Trump has been elected the next President of the United States of America, and as this editorial is being worked on, Trump is on 290 votes to 225 for Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump (a billionaire) is painted as the anti-establishment candidate, but should we be wary of a Trump Presidency? He proposes a dente with Russia (which is a good thing), as well as reaching out to other countries (which is a good thing); but he supports Israel's human rights abuses against the Palestinians (which is a bad thing as highlighted a number of times on Ne News ). But it is worth noting that while Trump is painted as anti-establishment, it is worth noting that far-right wing former Italian Prime Minister (and billionaire) Silvio Belasconi campaigned as an anti-establishment candidate in Italy, but once he got into power, he sold out the Italian people to the European Union by implementing dictates from Brussels, i...

The Struggle Continues for a Binding Treaty to #StopCorporateAbuse

Adam Parsons Share The World's Resources 5 November 2016 In the last week of October, civil society came another step closer to achieving a legally binding instrument on transnational corporations (TNCs) and other business enterprises with respect to human rights. Delegates from many large social movements and networks met alongside state representatives at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, to further proceedings for an open-ended intergovernmental working group set up two years ago. Despite considerable opposition from Western powers to a binding treaty in any form (particularly the United States, United Kingdom and other countries of the European Union), activist groups are now ramping up the struggle as part of a  Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples’ Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity . The fact that this process is now an official part of the UN agenda is itself remarkable. Since the 1970s, there have been a long s...
