Demise Of The Brussels EU Moves Closer: UK Government Issues Formal Notice Of Intention To Leave

Paul Anthony Taylor Dr Rath Health Foundation 31 March 2017 On Wednesday 29 March, 2017, nine months after the people of the United Kingdom had dramatically voted in a national referendum to leave the Brussels EU, prime minister Theresa May issued formal notice of the country’s intention to withdraw from the undemocratic political construct. In a letter delivered to Donald Tusk, president of the so-called European Council, she described how the Brexit referendum on 23 June, 2016, was a vote to restore self-determination for the British people. By officially triggering Article 50 of the so-called Lisbon Treaty and kick-starting the two-year divorce period it sets out, her letter effectively brought the demise of the Brussels EU a significant step closer.  The departure of Britain from the Brussels EU comes at a time when global awareness of the construct’s Nazi origins is becoming mainstream . Following the publication of our explosive book, The Nazi Roots of T...

Apology

Ne News 27 March 2017 Ne News wishes to apologise for a lack of editorials for the past couple of weeks. This is due to a hectic schedule with study and work. This weekend's editorial will be the much anticipated "14 Signs of Fascism" editorial, highlighting the growing spectate of fascism that is making its way around the world through the rise of superstates (which are supported by the far-right) and the increasingly privatised world that we live in. Again, Ne News wishes to apologise for the lack of editorials for the past couple of weeks. Stay tuned to Ne News .

The West is Becoming Irrelevant, The World is Laughing

Andre Vitchek Global Research 24 March 2017 I was recently told by an Asian friend of mine who is working in Paris: “Lately I stopped following almost all that is happening politically in the United States, in the UK and even here in France. It all feels suddenly so irrelevant, a waste of time.” Statements like this would be unimaginable only one decade ago. In the past, what came from Washington and (to a smaller extent) from London was monitored with great attentiveness and fear, all over the world. But all of a sudden, things have begun to change, rapidly. Despite the extremely violent nature of the Western-designed-and-manufactured global regime, which has been over-imposed on so many parts of the world for decades and centuries, increasing amounts of people in Asia, Latin America and Africa stopped worrying and went leisurely to the ‘barricades’, beginning to rebel against the perverseness of the ‘world order’. Did it all really happen ‘all of a ...

“I Stand by my Assessment that Israel is Committing the Crime of Apartheid,” Head of UN Body Resigns Following Pressure from UN Secretary-General Guterres To Withdraw Critical Report

Middle East Eye Middle East Eye 18 March 2017 The head of the United Nation’s West Asia commission resigned on Friday, after what she described as pressure from the secretary-general to withdraw a report accusing Israel of imposing an “apartheid regime” on Palestinians. The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), which comprises 18 Arab states,  published the report on Wednesday , saying it was the first time a UN body had clearly made the charge. Click here to read the statement of Khalaf posted on ESCWA’s social media. However two days later,  Rima Khalaf , UN under-secretary-general and ESCWA executive secretary, announced her resignation at a news conference in Beirut. “I stand by my assessment in the report, that Israel is committing the crime of apartheid,” she said at the conference. “I find myself unable to accept the pressure placed on me over the last period of time. “The secretary-general demanded yesterday that I...

Censorship of UN Report Calling Israel an “Apartheid Regime”. Backlash of Pro-Israeli Lobby

Stephen Lendman Global Research 18 March 2017 The  Richard Falk/Virginia Till ey report , discussed in a same day article, drew strong criticism from Israeli officials as expected.  They’re not pleased about scathing truth-telling, discussing disturbing facts about their apartheid regime, brutalizing Palestinians from inception, committing slow-motion genocide against a defenseless people. Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesman criticized the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) for publishing the report, comparing it to Der Sturmer, a Nazi anti-Semitic publication. Israeli UN envoy Danny Danon said the report “is despicable an constitutes a blatant lie. It comes as no surprise that an organization headed by an individual who has called for boycotts against Israel, and compared our democracy to the most terrible regimes of the 20th century, would publish such a report.” The World Jewish Congress called the report a “piece ...

The Vote in the Netherlands

Ne News 17 March 2017 On Wednesday, the people of The Netherlands voted in a general election, the first to be held after the incumbent government served the full term (four years) rather than a resignation, since 2002. The election saw the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) of Prime Minister Mark Rutte lose some seats (losing 8 seats), but is still the largest party; while it's coalition partner, the Labour Party (PvdA) was the biggest loser, losing 29 seats. The GroenLinks party was the biggest winner of the election, gaining 10 seats. The far-right wing Party for Freedom (PVV) of Geert Wilders gained five seats. NOTE: In The Netherlands, the House of Representatives is elected in a proportional representation with the whole country serving as a single constituency with a legal threshold of 0.67 per cent with residuals assigned by the D'Hondt method. Official results will be announced on 21 March 2017 at 16:00 Central European Time.

Brexit: It's On

Ne News 17 March 2017 Picture: parliament.uk Well, after a couple of months of debate at Westminster, the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill, also known as Brexit has received Royal Assent on 16 March 2017, which means that negotiations on the country's exit from the European Union will begin within days under Article 50 of the European Union Constitution (also known as the Lisbon Treaty). So, what does the withdrawal from the European Union mean for the people of the United Kingdom? Well, the United Kingdom will no longer be a member of the European Union, and therefore cannot adopt the single European currency, the Euro (there has been much debate on whether or not the United Kingdom will adopt the Euro prior to the Brexit vote). And despite the negative campaign from the mainstream media and most politicians (both Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats among others), the sky will not be caving in. Although, this moment will decide the future of the U...

Israel’s Welcome now Reserved only for Jews who Back Netanyahu

Jonathan Cook Global Research 7 March 2017 Dustin Pfundheller, 30, an American dentist living in Singapore, was set to become the youngest person to visit every country in the world while in a full-time job. His globetrotting has taken him to 192 of the 193 recognised states, bringing his medical skills to the world’s remotest places. But in January he was barred for the second time from Israel, the only country left on his list, having previously been refused entry last year.   Despite an invitation to a dental conference in Tel Aviv, and Israelis who vouched for him, border officials banned Pfundheller for 10 years. No reason was given, but lawyers suspect visits to Iran and the Arab states sealed his fate. There could hardly be starker evidence that Israel stubbornly refuses to become a normal country. Paradoxically, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Singapore last month to promote Israel as a tolerant country, one “committed to a be...

Australia's Department of Homeland Security: A Step Towards A Pacific Union?

Ne News 7 March 2017 Today, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced plans to create a mega-department similar to the Department of Homeland Security in the United States of America that was established after the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington in 2001. As noted by Peter Hartcher from Fairfax Media, the stated aim of this plan "is to improve co-ordination across the government in preventing terrorist attacks. It would merge at least half a dozen relevant federal agencies from two departments into a mega-department" (http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/turnbull-government-quietly-planning-massive-new-department-of-homeland-security-20170306-gurnpc.html). The new mega-department would be built on the existing Department of Immigration and Border Protection, which also includes the heavily-militaiarised Australian Border Force. Fairfax has also reported that the putative minister for homeland security will be...

EDITORIAL: Why The Media Need To Go Back To Being A 'Check and Balance'

Ne News 5 March 2017 In recent months, and in particular with the election of real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump to the most powerful post in the world (President of the United States of America), there has been much debate over the role of the media. It is worth noting that a free press is mentioned in the Constitution of the United States of America, but in recent decades, it has become less of a 'check and balance' and more public relations. Mainstream media (and in particular the privately-owned commercial media outlets) are becoming more obsessed with so-called "reality shows" (which are actually staged) and "celebrity gossip" (such as Kim Kardashian) and not paying attention to what the community wants: hard-hitting journalism. And while the mainstream media waits for media released from public relations companies, the alternative media is doing the hard yards by reporting on the hard-hitting issues such as the crimes ag...

Western Media Bias is Getting Obvious to Pretty Much Everyone

Martin Berger New Eastern Outlook 15 February 2017 Finally, American society begins to mature, which isn’t simply shown in just the rejection of the stream of lies Western journalists are broadcasting, but also in the ongoing fight against corporate media bias. This has been noted in a SurveyUSA poll, which asked 1,207 registered voters back in February about their opinion on certain press outlets. It’s curious that j ust 17% of voters had a very favorable opinion of CNN, while no more than 14% of voters had a favorable opinion of The New York Times. The Washington Post and MSNBC similarly were only very favorably viewed by less than 15% of voters. Another finding that, to a certain degree, allowed Trump to secure his victory was that Fox News was the outlet with the highest favorability in the poll, but only at 21%.  In turn, the Emerson College poll that conducted about the same time showed that 91% of Republicans believed the news media was untruthfu...

Descendants of Slaves, Forerunners of Justice: American Muslims Must Stop Apologizing

Ramzy Baroud Counter Punch 3 March 2017 I had recently been asked to give a talk about “being an American Muslim in the United States.” Although wary of the uses and abuses of the term, I obliged. Islam is a religion propelled by values, not race nor, theoretically, by blind tribal allegiances, I explained. The ‘American Muslim’ identity which has been under constant investigation in US media, politics and society is completely different from what American Muslims associate themselves with. The media’s ‘American Muslim’ is a suspect, a fifth column, potentially dangerous and more receptive to violence than every other collective identity in the US. While this contrasts sharply with real Islam, facts hardly matter in the age of American nationalism, predicated on cultural and religious identification and ‘alternative facts’. Caught within this brutal, baseless logic, some American Muslims no longer define themselves around their own political priorities, nor do...

Trump in Historical Perspective–From Nixon to Bannon-Breitbart and the Alt Right Fringe

Jack Rasmus Jack Rasmus 1 March 2017 Trump is not a new phenomenon. He is the latest, and most aggressive to date, repackaging of corporate-radical right attempts to reassert corporate hegemony and control over the global economy and US society. His antecedents are the policies and strategies of Nixon, Reagan and Gingrich’s ‘Contract for America’ in the 1990s. Trump has of course added his ‘new elements’ to the mix. He’s integrated the Tea Party elements left over from their purge by Republican Party elites after the 2012 national elections. He’s unified some of the more aggressive elements of the finance capital elites from hedge funds, commercial real estate, private equity, securities speculators and their ilk—i.e. the Adelsons, Singers, Mercers, and Schwarzman’s. He’s captured, for the moment at least, important elements of the white industrial working class in the Midwest and South, co-opted union leaders from the building trades, and even neutralized to...
