At the moment, there is a debate over Section 18C of Australia's Racial Discrimination Act, which makes it an offence to offend people. Those who want to get rid of Section 18C (which includes the conservatives that masques as the "Liberal" Party, the "Liberal Democrats" and the far-right wing "One Nation" Party) cites that they are fighting "political correctness", and that they demand a right to offend people. But what is worth noting that getting rid of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act was one of the goals of the far-right wing thinktank the Institute of Public Affairs, which includes among it's members James Bolt, son of News Corp Australia columnist Andrew Bolt (in fact James Bolt is the Communications Coordinator of the IPA) and politicians such as the former Family First Senator Bob Day (who recently fell from grace following the collapse of his company) and Liberal Democrat Senator David Leyonhjelm. It is the same institution that wants mass privatisation (it is worth noting that privatisation is at the core of Fascism). Others who support the repel of 18C includes Pauline Hanson (who, despite claims to represent the people of Australia voted for the Australian Building and Construction Commission and in the 1990s, voted for Workchoices, both of which hurt Australians), on the argument of fighting "political correctness".
What is worth noting that Australia NEEDS 18C, and while freedom of speech is important, there are limits to it; and one of them is to protect people. And getting rid of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act would mean that the government can get away with crimes that would be unthinkable.
Remember the Holocaust? It should be stressed that the Holocaust DIDN'T start with gas chambers in Auschwitz. It started with politicians dividing the people with "Us vs Them", which in this case was getting the German people to turn on Jewish people and other "undesirables". It started with intolerance and hate speech, most notably the Munich Speech from Adolf Hitler. And as a result of this dehumanisation of the Jewish people and other "undesirables" that people stopped caring, became desensitized, mindlessly obedient and turned a blind eye to the crimes that were being committed against the Jewish people and other "undesirables" by the Nazis.
Fast forward to 2016, and the election of Pauline Hanson and several other One Nation senators. Pauline Hanson has called for a Royal Commission into Islam. And since September 11 2001, we have seen the dehumanisation of Muslims throughout the Western World. And the reason for this dehumanisation: the fact that 60 percent of the world's crude oil reserves are in Muslim countries. But we are told not to think about it, but the politicians and the mainstream media wants us to focus on oil prices and prices at the petrol browser. We are also told to hate Muslims, as it is alleged that Islam is taking over the world, which is not true; and that Islam is a terrorist religion - which is not true.
According to statistics, 90 percent of terrorist attacks are carried out by NON-MUSLIMS. In the
United States, according to the FBI, only 6% of terrorist attacks are carried out by Muslims. Just 6 percent. More than Communists, which is 5%, but less than Jewish extremists, which is 7%. And in the European Union according to Europol, less than 1% of terrorist attacks are carried out by Muslims (http://www.globalresearch.ca/non-muslims-carried-out-more-than-90-of-all-terrorist-attacks-in-america/5333619).
In addition, there are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, but around 60 000 to 100 000 members of Daesh, which (as has been mentioned by Ne News a number of times) is 0.00625 percent of the Muslim population of the world. And wha the mainstream media doesn't mention is that the majority of members of Daesh knows nothing about the religion that they claim to fight for, with many members buying books such as Islam for Dummies (http://www.globalresearch.ca/religion-of-terror-leaked-isis-documents-reveal-that-70-of-recruits-dont-even-know-what-islam-is/5541260). And in addition, Daesh is supported by the United States, the European Union and Israel among others (http://www.globalresearch.ca/twenty-six-things-about-the-islamic-state-isil-that-obama-does-not-want-you-to-know-about/5414735).
It should be noted that the elites in Australia (which includes politicians from both major parties as well as parties such as One Nation, Liberal Democrats and others) are creating distractions to distract us from issues such as cuts in welfare, increased university fees (such as $100 000 degrees, which will price tertiary education out for working- and middle-class families), cuts to the arts, and cuts to both ABC and SBS.
The elite knows that the people of Australia are beginning to turn on them, so they create scapegoats to focus the people's natural anger at the elite at some group that the elite despises. In the 1850s, the scapegoats were the Chinese. After World War II, it was the Italians and other people from mainland Europe. In the 1970s, it was the Vietnamese refugees. In the 1990s (the first time Pauline Hanson was in Parliament), it was Asians. And from 9/11 to today, it's Muslims. And let not forget the eternal scapegoats, the Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders (the original inhabitants of Australia, who have been here for 50 000 years.
Fascism relies on scapegoats, and getting rid of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act will actually help the fascists and limit any freedom of speech against the rich and powerful (it is worth noting that Fascism is all about control by the rich and powerful). If 18C goes, then we will be allowed to offend the scapegoats, but not the elite. Therefore, Australians need to unite and protect Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, because Section 18C will stop fascism from rising it's ugly head in Australia.
And remember, the Holocaust didn't start with gas chambers in Auschwitz. It started with Us vs. Them. It started with hate speech and dehumanisation. It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, mindlessly obedient and turned a blind eye to the crimes that were being committed against the Jewish people and other "undesirables" by the Nazis. And if we get rid of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, it will happen again.
NOTE: This is the final editorial for 2016. Ne News wishes all readers a safe and enjoyable holidays season (note it is not just Christmas that is celebrated at this time of year, as we also have Hanukkah and Kwanzaa; as well as New Year's a week after Christmas). And Ne News also encourages all readers to scrutinize the mainstream media carefully this holidays season, especially the far-right wing media and the alleged "War on Christmas" that comes out at this time each year, in particular from News Corp and Fox News, which is designed to divide us when we need to unite to beat the globalists. The editorial will be back in early January 2017, and perhaps a few surprises throughout the year. And you can reach Ne News at nenews2016@gmail.com. Until early January 2017.
