Reality
television star Donald Trump is set to become US President, an event
that will have a major impact on the world that we live in. A
possibility that the European Union will collapse due to the
opposition against the regime in Brussels. No matter what happens,
2017 will be an interesting year in both the United States and
Europe.
In
Europe
In 2016, the people of the
United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in what has been
referred to as the Brexit. But it looks like that 2017 will be an
interesting year to be in Europe. In March 2017, it is expected that
the United Kingdom will begin talks to activate Article 50 of the
European Union Constitution, which will begin talks to leave the
European Union; but this year, there is a lot more events happening
in Europe.
In January, the Supreme Court
in the United Kingdom will reach a verdict in regards to Article 50,
and in the same month, Malta will hold the Presidency of the Council
of the European Union (with Estonia holding the presidency in the
second half of the year). It is expected that the Supreme Court
ruling will shape the year in the United Kingdom as this could cause
another election in the UK on top of mayoral and local elections in
the country.
In February, the twenty-seven
members of the European Union will meet, most likely to be in regards
to the activation of Article 50, as well as Presidential elections in
Germany. It is expected that the tragedy of what happened at the
Christmas Market in Berlin just before Christmas will have an impact
on the German elections, with the possibility of the far-right making
some impact on the German electorate; as well as parliamentary
elections in Germany in September. And speaking of elections, there
will be elections in the Netherlands in March and the first round of
Presidential elections in France in April, with the second round in
May; and legislative elections the month later.
There is a possibility that
the far right will have some impact on these elections, with the
National Front in France and Freedom Party in the Netherlands, with
promises to hold referendums on membership of the European Union. But
as Ne News has mentioned
several times, people need to be careful of these far right wing
parties, as many of these parties are actually in favour of
membership of the European Union. And also, many multinational
corporations (many of them tend to support the far-right) are in
favour of the European Union. In addition, many far-right wing groups
(such as the League of St George, which was mentioned in a 2016
editorial on Ne News)
tend to support the European Union.
As
highlighted in late 2016, all it will take for the European Union to
collapse is an event of a similar impact to the Brexit. So it will be
an interesting year for the
European
Union, which could collapse
at any time.
United
States of America
Donald
Trump had won the electoral college and just a couple of weeks ago
was formally chosen to be the President of the United States of
America. It should be stressed that Ne News
didn’t support Trump nor his Democrat rival Hillary Clinton. There
is much debate over whether Donald Trump will deliver on his promise,
or will he go the way of Barack Obama and sell out
the American people by delivering anything but change.
It
is worth noting that despite campaigning against the establishment
and Wall Street, the incoming administration has the most
millionaires and billionaires of any American cabinet. There has also
been controversy among the incoming cabinet, including a White
Nationalist, oil executives and a person who had campaigned against
public education being named the Secretary of Education with a token
African-American member who will be Secretary of Housing.
Donald
Trump has made his opinions on the European Union during the 2016
Presidential race, but the question is, is it genuine? In the
previous section, it was noted that the far right are actually in
favour of the European Union, and there is a possibility that Donald
Trump may actually be planning to incorporate the United States of
America into a North American Union, just like the past several
Presidents (both Democrat and Republican).
Ne
News and 2017
2017
will be an interesting year for international relations. While Ne
News supports international
cooperation, Ne News
is opposed to supranational bodies such as the European Union which
tend to support the elite and impose privatisation onto the people
(it is worth noting that privatisation is at the root of fascism,
which is the merger of state and corporate power). There
is a possibility that the New World Order will collapse in 2017 and
the people will regain their rights as citizens first and foremost.
2017
will set the emergence of true freedom of movement. 2017 will see the
emergence of true cooperation between nation-states, and people from
different countries and cultures working together for a peaceful
future without the need of Orwellian superstates. People will move
beyond fear of each other and we will see true love power over
hatred.
And
no doubt that Ne News
will be there for the journey throughout 2017 as international
relations will change a lot over the next twelve months. Some for the
better and some for the worse.
