EDITORIAL: Why We Should Be Wary Of Foundations

Ne News
14 May 2018

Today, Global Research had an article about foundations like Open Society Foundation and the Clinton Foundation funding "not for profit organisations" like 350.org/1Sky and Pacifica Radio (broadcaster of Democracy Now!) (https://www.globalresearch.ca/the-non-profit-industrial-complex-and-the-parallel-left-a-conversation-with-cory-morningstar-and-bob-feldman/5640021). While Ne News agrees with the article as it is important that we go after these so-called "leftist organisations" (note that they may not be true left-wing organisations), many in the alternative media often miss out on right-wing foundations, mostly controlled by the Koch Brothers who control organisations such as "Freedom Works", "Tea Party Patriots" and "National Rifle Association" among others.

Foundations (both left-wing and right-wing) often manipulates people to support the goals of these organisations. But more often than not, people don't know that they are supporting people like George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton and the Koch Brothers, as many of these "foundations" don't disclose that they (the foundations) funds these organisations. For example, George Soros funds 350.org/1Sky, but don't disclose it to the people, making us think it is a grassroots movement. On the other hand, the Koch Brothers fund organisations such as the National Rifle Association and Tea Party Patriots, but don't disclose it to the people, making us think it is a grassroots movement.

It is worth noting that 350.org/1Sky, Pacifica Radio, Freedom Works, Tea Party Patriots and National Rifle Association are astroturf, which as described by Wikipedia as:
the practice of masking the sponsors of a message or organization (e.g., political, advertising, religious or public relations) to make it appear as though it originates from and is supported by a grassroots participant(s). It is a practice intended to give the statements or organizations credibility by withholding information about the source's financial connection. The term astroturfing is derived from AstroTurf, a brand of synthetic carpeting designed to resemble natural grass, as a play on the word "grassroots." The implication behind the use of the term is that instead of a "true" or "natural" grassroots effort behind the activity in question, there is a "fake" or "artificial" appearance of support (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing).

Organisations such as 350.org/1Sky, Pacifica Radio, Freedom Works, Tea Party Patriots and National Rifle Association are examples of astroturfing by foundations run by people such as George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton and the Koch Brothers. It is worth noting that even parts of the alternative media (such as Democracy Now!) are funded by these foundations, making the claim that these are grassroots, which in fact they are astroturfing. It should be noted that the true alternative media doesn't receive any funding from any foundation (Ne News doesn't receive any funding from any foundation).

We need to be wary of foundations such as those run by George Soros, the Clintons and the Koch Brothers, as well as the "alternative" media that they fund (such as Democracy Now!), as more often than not they have the foundation's (and not our) interests at heart.

The French “Patriot Act”: Why is France Extending Its State of Emergency? From Pseudo-Democracy to Dictatorship

Guillaume Kress Global Research 19 February 2016 President Francois Hollande, whose legitimacy stems from nothing but a fraudulent multiparty electoral system , has repeatedly abused his authority  since taking office in 2012 by waging illegal wars in foreign countries (i.e., Mali, Syria) without consulting his electors. [1] He  recently failed to confer with them when his Socialist government responded to last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris by adopting Orwellian domestic policies – policies that have allowed the Hollande administration to spy on citizens , block websites containing “terrorist related content” , strip convicted “terrorists” of French citizenship , and criminalize activism against Israeli occupation .[2] These policies prevent the spread of information which may expose the government’s criminal activities. We should note, here, that the state of emergency greatly facilitates political corruption. [3] To put it briefly, the state of...

EDITORIAL: Be Careful Italy

Ne News 2 June 2018 As you may be aware, there was a constitutional crisis in Italy following the decision to make a Eurosceptic Italian Finance Minister, which resulted in the Italian President to dissolve the government. Just a couple of days ago, this was resolved. However, it is worth noting that one of the parties in this coalition is the far-right wing Northern League, as well as the Five Star Movement. However, the people of Italy must be careful, especially in regards to the Northern League, as they may be the party to destroy Italy’s sovereignty and hand it over to the unelected and unaccountable European Union, which is increasingly becoming a fascist police state. That’s right, despite denying it and claiming that they are Eurosceptics, the Northern League may actually be the most pro-European Union party in the Italian Government. Throughout the world (and in particular the Western World), we are seeing the rise of far-right wing parties who claim ...

Big Pharma: An Example of the Best ‘Democracy’ Money Can Buy

Monica Cruz Liberation News 23 May 2018 The U.S. government constantly vilifies Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, and other governments it opposes, claiming that they are not democracies. Republicans and Democrats alike warn of “oppressive regimes” while telling us that the U.S. is a true democracy, and everyone here has a say through voting. But a closer look reveals that the deciding factor in U.S. “democracy” is not the vote at all, but the dollar bill. Policies are made and unmade not because of the number of votes they get, but because corporations spend hundreds of millions of dollars on ‘lobbying,’ and other ways of paying off law makers to pass the laws they want. Take the pharmaceutical industry. Virtually everyone takes medication at one time or another, and access to medicine can mean life or death. Many people cannot afford medication. In a recent poll, the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 80 percent of people in the U.S.  believe drug c...
