Well, another week, and it is time for the recommended readings for this week.
It looks like Australia will go to the polls in a double dissolution election on July 2 (the first in 30 years), and the government (as well as the Institute of Public Affairs's Bob Day) has got their way in the abolition of the Road Safety Renumeration Tribunal (RSRT). It should be stressed that if you are covering the directives of the Institute of Public Affairs, you would know that this was directive number 55 (https://ipa.org.au/publications/2080/be-like-gough-75-radical-ideas-to-transform-australia). Several other directives have also passed like the elimination of media ownership restrictions (#27) and the privatisation of Medibank (which was achieved under Tony Abbott, #49). Note that Ne News is opposed to the IPA, and the link in the article is for your research benefit. Note that if the Federal Government privatises the ABC and SBS (ABC: #50 and SBS: #51) on the pretext of new technology such as digital television and the internet, remember that privatisation of these important institutions is IPA policies, and the IPA controls the Liberal Party.
As mentioned by Ne News over the weekend, there is a vote in the Netherlands surrounding a non-binding vote that will be taking place on Wednesday (local time, around Thursday our time). (http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/News/2016/April.html#comment0219). And speaking of the European Union, there is reports of corruption in the EU (no surprise as the people of Europe has no power in the European Union) (http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/News/2016/April.html#comment0221).
Also, and this is particularly important for graduate students (who are more likely than not forced onto the New Start Allowance rather than Austudy). Know your rights as citizens. Note that you do not have to do the forced slavery that is "Work for the Dole", and that you have rights. And if you are not on the dole, do not believe the propaganda from the alleged "current affairs" programmes such as A Current Affair (http://unemployedworkersunion.com/).
Until Friday at 1:00 AEST.
