EDITORIAL: Keep Our Eyes On The Ball

Ne News
4 December 2017

It is December, and around 21 days until Christmas. And no doubt that the far-right wing media outlets and politicians will be out to distract the public from the bad things that the Australian Government will do to ordinary Australians. For example, the Australian Government has recently announced a so-called "Royal Commission into Banks", which is highly popular with the public. But what is not mentioned is that it will be the banks that will be the ones controlling the terms of references, and it will be the ordinary people who will be the ones who will be the ones who will be burned (this so-called "royal commission" will be about going after industry superfunds such as Australian Super, which is run by the members and not the banks). And several times this year, the Australian Government announced that they had "foiled" a terrorist attack, and these announcements was made at a time when the Australian Government were behind in the polls. And since we are now in December, be prepared for the annual "War on Christmas" stories from the media. designed to distract us from the evil things that the Australian Government are doing in our name. And no doubt, this "War on Christmas" will be used to distract us from a possible war against North Korea (a country that has NOT INVADED ONE SINGLE COUNTRY SINCE THE KOREAN WAR) by the United States of America (which has INVADED AT LEAST EIGHTY COUNTRIES SINCE WORLD WAR II AND STILL OCCUPIES SEVERAL COUNTRIES), and it will be a war that the children of our politicians won't be fighting.

It is worth noting that the far-right often use distractions such as the so-called "War on Christmas" (which Ne News doesn't believe in) to try and divert attention away from failures of right-wing governments and human rights abuses by governments. One such distraction is the so-called "Royal Commission into Banks" which was recently announced by the (conservative) Liberal Party of Prime Minister (and former merchant banker) Malcolm Turnbull, which will be used as a cover to go after industry superfunds (it should be noted that the mainstream media won't mention that the four major banks will basically control the terms of references in this "royal commission"). And earlier this year, there was a postal vote on same-sex marriage, which was basically designed to distract people's attention from media ownership 'reforms' that would benefit the American media baron Rupert Murdoch (as it would've allowed him to take over Network Ten, which is now owned by American media conglomerate CBS Corporation, which in turn is owned by National Amusements, which also owns Viacom, another of the "Big Six" of the American media landscape), and that these changes were proposed by the far-right wing think tank the Institute of Public Affairs (an organisation that Ne News has mentioned a number of times).

And as published by Ne News earlier today, charges has been laid against the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland, NEATO and Work for the Dole project coordinator Adrian Strachan over the death of 18-year old Josh Park-Fing at a Work for the Dole site in Toowoomba, forced to work for FIVE DOLLARS A DAY on top of his Youth Allowance ($218.75/week), something that politicians won't forced their kids to do. But the initiators of this cruel program, the Australian Government won't be facing charges. In fact, as noted by Jade Manson from Independent Australia, the Australian Government (and not Josh Park-Fing's family) will receive the payout (https://independentaustralia.net/life/life-display/lives-of-people-on-work-for-the-dole-are-worth-less,10993).

But no doubt, the mainstream media will have more coverage of the royal engagement of Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle (a 'news' story that doesn't affect ordinary people) than this major story that could turn Australians against mandatory slavery that is Work for the Dole. Or perhaps, the media will bring out the so-called "War on Christmas" to distract the public's attention from Josh Park-Fing's death in shackles, as well as cuts to public education, Medicare, universities, the arts and culture, ABC (which the IPA want to see broken up and each of its functions put out to tender), SBS (which the IPA want privatised), social security (there is a possibility that Centrelink will be privatised by the Turnbull Government in the new year) as well as human rights abuses being carried out by the Australian Government against asylum seekers on Mannus Island and at other concentration camps, and the eventual shutdown of community television stations in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth on terrestrial television and forced online (allegedly because the future of broadcasting is online, but commercial stations are not being forced online).

And in regards to the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it could've been a distraction to take the eyes of the British people away from the Paradise Papers, which implicated the 'royal family' (and in particular the Queen) for putting money in tax havens and onto the 'royal family'.

In December, there will be a number of distractions (such as the so-called "War on Christmas" as well as more coverage of the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) to distract us, but we need to be vigilant and not be distracted by these non-issues, which are designed to divide us (such as the so-called "War on Christmas") or take our attention away from the horrible and unpopular things that the government plan to do to ordinary Australians (such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle). This Christmas (and Holiday season), we need to be vigilant and not fall for distractions such as these, which are designed to take our eyes off the ball.

So this holiday season, don't take your eyes off the ball and remain vigilant of distractions (such as the so-called "War on Christmas" and royal engagements) that are designed to take our eyes off the ball.

And lastly, have a great Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year, and we will be back with hopefully more frequent editorials in 2018.

EDITORIAL: Be Careful Italy

Ne News 2 June 2018 As you may be aware, there was a constitutional crisis in Italy following the decision to make a Eurosceptic Italian Finance Minister, which resulted in the Italian President to dissolve the government. Just a couple of days ago, this was resolved. However, it is worth noting that one of the parties in this coalition is the far-right wing Northern League, as well as the Five Star Movement. However, the people of Italy must be careful, especially in regards to the Northern League, as they may be the party to destroy Italy’s sovereignty and hand it over to the unelected and unaccountable European Union, which is increasingly becoming a fascist police state. That’s right, despite denying it and claiming that they are Eurosceptics, the Northern League may actually be the most pro-European Union party in the Italian Government. Throughout the world (and in particular the Western World), we are seeing the rise of far-right wing parties who claim ...

Afghanistan, Iraq. Hollywood’s Complicity: How Soon the Suckers Forget!

Philip A. Farruggio Global Research 12 May 2018 Featured image: George W. Bush with Ellen Degeneres, backstage after the former President appeared on “Ellen” and was hailed by her as a good friend (Source: @theellenshow/Instagram) How many lies and how many innocent lives have been sent out into the ethers by men like Junior Bush and his Bush/Cheney Cabal? Too many is the answer. Yet, as with the case with the Irish singing star (and humanitarian) Bono, Junior Bush has been ‘Born Again Philanthropist’. Well, good for him, but… that should not and DOES not absolve him from his war crimes. Screenshot AVC News, May 27, 2017 The real shame of all of this is just how short a memory do Ms. Ellen Degeneres and Mr. Bono have? I mean, come on you two  Media stars , have you both forgotten what transpired beginning in October of 2001? Does this writer need to once again review the  horrific  damage we,  and  our NATO led coal...

The French “Patriot Act”: Why is France Extending Its State of Emergency? From Pseudo-Democracy to Dictatorship

Guillaume Kress Global Research 19 February 2016 President Francois Hollande, whose legitimacy stems from nothing but a fraudulent multiparty electoral system , has repeatedly abused his authority  since taking office in 2012 by waging illegal wars in foreign countries (i.e., Mali, Syria) without consulting his electors. [1] He  recently failed to confer with them when his Socialist government responded to last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris by adopting Orwellian domestic policies – policies that have allowed the Hollande administration to spy on citizens , block websites containing “terrorist related content” , strip convicted “terrorists” of French citizenship , and criminalize activism against Israeli occupation .[2] These policies prevent the spread of information which may expose the government’s criminal activities. We should note, here, that the state of emergency greatly facilitates political corruption. [3] To put it briefly, the state of...
