EDITORIAL: Fighting Back Against Anti-Intellectualism

Yesterday, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced that Australians would be going to the polls on Saturday 2 July 2016, with the Liberal Party mantra for the election is all about jobs and the economy. But what should be noted is what is not being said by the Liberal Party.

Over the past couple of years, the Liberal Party (under both Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull) has abolished the Gonski funding for public schools and redirected this funding to elite private schools who has everything, including a Olympic-sized pool. And in addition, funding to higher education has been cut and university fees deregulated so you could be forced to pay $100,000 for the right to go to university (even though the politicians who is forcing future generations to pay $100,000 got their higher education for free). And they had also gutted funding from the CSIRO. So you may be wondering what is going on?

The reason why the government has cut funding to education and the CSIRO is anti-intellectualism that is spreading throughout the west. And while governments are cutting funding to important areas such as education and research, alleged "news" and "current affairs" programmes are focusing attention towards Johnny Depp and his wife's dogs, The Real Housewives of... (who are mostly rich) and the latest news about Kim Kardashian. It is our celebrity-worshipping (and anti-intellectualism that is being promoted by the mainstream media) that is destroying the planet.

And last week on the alleged "current affairs" programme A Current Affair, there was one of those "gotcha" stories about a man stealing flowers, and another story on their favourite subject, neighbours at war. These are the stories that is being passed off as "current affairs", while what happening in Syria or the Trans-Pacific Partnership, or even cuts to education and research are ignored.

It is a sad state of affairs when we are obsessed with rich women from Toorak (The Real Housewives of Melbourne) and their antics are considered to be more important than the future of the world. This is anti-intellectualism. The first people to be killed by the Khmer Rouge were the educated people. And no doubt that the globalists will kill the educated people first. That is why the globalists want us to be obsessed with shows like The Voice, or The Fake Housewives of.... So we don't go and learn about the world around us and become educated, because if we are educated, we won't be watching the "reality" shows they want us to watch.

Instead of watching The Fake Housewives of Toorak, read a book. Instead of watching a neighbourhood dispute on A Current Affair, check out the real news on alternative news sites such as Global Research, Strategic Culture or even foreign news sites such as Press TV or Russia Today. And ad of watching entertainment news, learn a language (this correspondent is about to start learning Korean).

We need to start bringing intellectualism back to left, right and centre of our lives. Start learning, and stop obsessing about what rich people are bitching about on The Fake Housewives of Toorak.

NOTE: There will be a protest against the $2 billion cuts to education and $100,000 degrees on Wednesday 11 May 2016. Check with your universities for more details.

The French “Patriot Act”: Why is France Extending Its State of Emergency? From Pseudo-Democracy to Dictatorship

Guillaume Kress Global Research 19 February 2016 President Francois Hollande, whose legitimacy stems from nothing but a fraudulent multiparty electoral system , has repeatedly abused his authority  since taking office in 2012 by waging illegal wars in foreign countries (i.e., Mali, Syria) without consulting his electors. [1] He  recently failed to confer with them when his Socialist government responded to last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris by adopting Orwellian domestic policies – policies that have allowed the Hollande administration to spy on citizens , block websites containing “terrorist related content” , strip convicted “terrorists” of French citizenship , and criminalize activism against Israeli occupation .[2] These policies prevent the spread of information which may expose the government’s criminal activities. We should note, here, that the state of emergency greatly facilitates political corruption. [3] To put it briefly, the state of...

EDITORIAL: Be Careful Italy

Ne News 2 June 2018 As you may be aware, there was a constitutional crisis in Italy following the decision to make a Eurosceptic Italian Finance Minister, which resulted in the Italian President to dissolve the government. Just a couple of days ago, this was resolved. However, it is worth noting that one of the parties in this coalition is the far-right wing Northern League, as well as the Five Star Movement. However, the people of Italy must be careful, especially in regards to the Northern League, as they may be the party to destroy Italy’s sovereignty and hand it over to the unelected and unaccountable European Union, which is increasingly becoming a fascist police state. That’s right, despite denying it and claiming that they are Eurosceptics, the Northern League may actually be the most pro-European Union party in the Italian Government. Throughout the world (and in particular the Western World), we are seeing the rise of far-right wing parties who claim ...

Big Pharma: An Example of the Best ‘Democracy’ Money Can Buy

Monica Cruz Liberation News 23 May 2018 The U.S. government constantly vilifies Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, and other governments it opposes, claiming that they are not democracies. Republicans and Democrats alike warn of “oppressive regimes” while telling us that the U.S. is a true democracy, and everyone here has a say through voting. But a closer look reveals that the deciding factor in U.S. “democracy” is not the vote at all, but the dollar bill. Policies are made and unmade not because of the number of votes they get, but because corporations spend hundreds of millions of dollars on ‘lobbying,’ and other ways of paying off law makers to pass the laws they want. Take the pharmaceutical industry. Virtually everyone takes medication at one time or another, and access to medicine can mean life or death. Many people cannot afford medication. In a recent poll, the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 80 percent of people in the U.S.  believe drug c...
