It is now Week 10 of Semester 1, and the end of semester is now in sight. And you know what time it is now: recommended readings time.
Firstly, a member of the Saudi "Royal Family" (which was created by the British in the 1920s) has lectured the United States (the alleged "champion of democracy") about democracy (http://www.globalresearch.ca/saudi-prince-lectures-america-on-democracy-calling-for-never-trump/5524369). It is weird that the Saudis are lecturing America on democracy and telling the American people not to elect Donald Trump (Ne News condemns wholeheartedly Donald Trump's views and hopes that Donald Trump is never elected, nor Hillary Clinton), yet if someone calls for elections in Saudi Arabia, the person in question could be sentenced to death, and this regime is backed by Washington. The Saudi "Royal Family", along with Washington and Israel actively supports Daesh.
It is finally on for young and old. The 2016 Federal Election. If you were in the city today, you would've seen a protest against cuts to higher education in the budget, and it looks like higher education will be an election issue at the election. And it could be the final days for Malcolm Turnbull as Prime Minister, no matter who wins (https://independentaustralia.net/politics/politics-display/malcolms-haymaker,8972). And while the Liberal Party wants us to focus on "jobs and growth", Medicare (which will be privatised if the Liberals get back), arts and culture, funding to the ABC (which will be broken up if the Liberals get back in), SBS (which will be privatised if the Liberals get back in), welfare (Youth Allowance and Austudy hasn't increased since 1994 and postgraduates are still forced onto the Newstart Allowance, which also hasn't increased since 1994). This will be one issue that will be revisited by Ne News in the lead-up to Saturday 2 July. And no surprise that the Murdoch rags are running an anti-Labor and anti-Greens campaign, just like three years ago when the Daily Telegraph (as well as other News Corporation-owned newspapers such as the Herald Sun) ran anti-Labor and championed the Liberal party (which saw Tony Abbott 'elected' by the Murdoch press as Prime Minister).
And finally, there was an election held in the Philippines this week, and already there are allegations of intimation and fears of the country going back to the days of dictator Ferdinand Marcos (his son Bongbong was running for Vice-President). It is worth noting that unlike in the United States where the nominee for the President chooses his or her running mate (Vice-President), in the Philippines, both President and Vice-President are voted by the people (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_general_election,_2016#For_president).
Until 1:00 pm AEST Friday.
