The United States of America often claims to be for democracy and human rights, and earlier this week claimed support for so-called "protestors" in Iran protesting against the government in Tehran. It is also worth noting that some who are protesting against the government in Tehran are flying the flag of the Shah, claiming that they are for the "return" of democracy in Iran. But is the regime in Washington using crocodile tears when it comes to Iran and not Palestinians?
It is worth noting that in 1953, there was a coup d'état in Iran which saw the democratically-elected Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh overthrown and replaced him with a government led by General Fazlollah Zahedi, who gave more power to the Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (the last Shah of Iran). And what was Mosaddegh's crime? Mosaddegh nationalised the oil industry in Iran. And now we are seeing crocodile tears from Washington (who backed the Shah who turned Iran into a virtual police state) and London (who initiated the coup which saw the Shah gain virtual police state powers because of Mosaddegh's "crime") (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat).
Today, we are seeing protesters using the flag of the Shah (pictured left) being used by so-called "pro-democracy protestors", even though the Shah ruled Iran like a police state and governed Iran for the interests of corporations based in the United States and United Kingdom and killed dissidents who spoke out against the Shah. This is similar to the use of the South Vietnamese flag by "pro-democracy protesters", even though South Vietnam was a dictatorship that was governed by Ngo Dinh Diem (who was living in Washington at the same time Vietnamese Communist leader Ho Chi Minh was fighting for Vietnamese independence from the French).
It is worth noting that while the United States of America and the United Kingdom are shedding crocodile tears for the people of Iran, in the Republic of Korea, there are prisoners of conscience (such as Lee Seok-ki and Han Sang-gyun) who are still locked up in prison for (https://www.globalresearch.ca/south-korean-president-moons-pardon-no-prisoners-of-conscience-were-included-in-the-special-pardon/5624426, https://www.globalresearch.ca/appeal-for-the-release-of-prisoners-of-conscience-in-south-korea-lee-seok-ki-and-han-sang-gyun/5622522, http://en.savelee.kr) for practicing free speech and calling for peace with North Korea, and at the same time the United States of America and United Kingdom are becoming virtual police states and backs regimes in Tel Aviv and Riyadh who repeatedly violates human rights and sponsors terrorism.
It is becoming apparent that we are seeing crocodile tears coming from Washington and London who while calling for Iran to respect the protester's demands are ignoring other countries that are violating human rights (such as Israel and Saudi Arabia, the latter is a virtual police state backed by Washington, as well as the case in South Korea with several prisoners of conscience still locked up). This is hypocrisy at its worst from countries that claims to be for freedom in places like Iran and North Korea, but ignores freedom in South Korea or Saudi Arabia or the grave human rights abuses being carried out by Israel against the Palestinians.
It's time to end the hypocrisy and crocodile tears.
