EDITORIAL: Washington's Dirty Laundry

Ne News
19 January 2018

The United States of America (and in particular the regime in Washingon) often talks about democracy and freedom and how Washington supports democracy and freedom throughout the world. Just yesterday (at the initiative of both North Korea and South Korea), the two Koreas will march in together at the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, with the White House saying that a joint march will give North Koreans a 'taste of freedom' (http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2018/01/103_242660.html).

It is worth noting that the United States of America doesn't support freedom or democracy for the people. In fact, in the United States of America, the American people are losing their freedoms and their democracy. In the United States of America, 90 percent of the American media landscape is controlled by just five large media conglomerates (Disney, Time Warner, News Corp, National Amusements and Comcast), and this increasingly concentrated media landscape has been supported by both Democrats and Republicans. And in addition, most of the 'news' that is consumed by the American people are celebrity gossip (it is worth noting that the large media conglomerates owns at least one film studio), and that Americans know more about soft news (just like which celebrity got into trouble with the law for stealing something) than hard news (like how the United States of America is preparing to launch nuclear weapons on North Korea). And most Americans don't know much about world geography. But hey, at least Americans can hear about the latest scandal in Hollywood.

In North Korea, there is free health care provided by the government (which is pretty much common in most parts of the world, but sadly governments are replacing this with insurance-based coverage, which as mentioned last week, former UKIP leader Nigel Farage was on the record saying that the NHS should be replaced by insurance-based coverage - http://nenews2016.blogspot.com.au/2018/01/week-in-review-13-january-2018.html), but the United States of America doesn't do this, having private health insurance as the cornerstone of healthcare. But hey, Americans have a choice of what flavour bagel they can get. How about that for choice.

And you only have to look at history to see that the United States of America doesn't care about freedom and democracy. During the Cold War, the United States of America was overthrowing socialist governments that were elected by the people and replaced by fascist dictatorships that would govern for American interests. For example, on 11 September 1973, the United States of America (through the CIA) overthrew Socialist leader Salvador Allende and installed Fascist dictator General Augusto Pinochet, who murdered tends of thousands of Chileans. This was also common throughout Latin America in which dictators united to kill (mostly left-wing) dissidents. Same with Indonesia, in which the United States of America installed Fascist General Suharto, who murdered 2 million Indonesians in his first year alone, and turned Indonesian culture (which valued intellectualism) into one of anti-intellectualism, which is best shown in Bandung, which was named as an 'creative city' by the United Nations despite a culture of anti-intellectualism that was installed into the people by US-installed General Suharto (http://nenews2016.blogspot.com.au/2016/02/editorial-evolution-of-culture-and-how.html; http://journal-neo.org/2016/02/02/bandung-creative-city/), and this anti-intellectualism is being promoted through our 'political leaders' (who care about the top one percent) and the mainstream media. But hey, this is not as important as the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

And even today, the United States of America is still backing totalitarian regimes throughout the world. Look at Ukraine, which before the Euromaiden 'revolution' which replaced a democratically-elected government with a Neo-Nazi government. And the United States of America still support Saudi Arabia, which is one of the least free countries (if not, the least free country) in the world. And the United States of America give more aid to Israel than Africa, Latin America and Caribbean combined, and the Israelis use this aid money for weapons to use against the Palestinians. But hey, we are cutting aid to countries that voted against us Americans at the United Nations.

And in the United States, despite calling itself the land of the free and supporting freedom and democracy, you need to be a millionaire just to run for an office; and more often than not, the cabinet is a who's who of Wall Street, and this hasn't changed with Donald Trump (a billionaire real estate mogul), who promised the American people to 'drain the swamp'. And this is the same throughout the world, with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull donating AUS$1.7 million to his own party in the 2016 Federal Election. But hey, Oprah Winfrey (another millionaire and another celebrity) is considering running for President in 2020.

The United States of America is one of the most hypocritical nations in the world, saying one thing to the people, but doing the opposite. If the United States of America support freedom and democracy, then they shouldn't be lecturing other countries when they (Washington) have their own dirty laundry, such as supporting Neo-Nazis in Ukraine or threatening to cut aid to countries as well as intimating them for practicing freedom and democracy at the United Nations. It is possible that some countries (such as North Korea) may actually be more free than the United States of America (which claims to be a democracy).

So before the United States of America lectures countries, they should look at their own dirty laundry, and improve freedom and democracy in their own country before lecturing other countries.

The French “Patriot Act”: Why is France Extending Its State of Emergency? From Pseudo-Democracy to Dictatorship

Guillaume Kress Global Research 19 February 2016 President Francois Hollande, whose legitimacy stems from nothing but a fraudulent multiparty electoral system , has repeatedly abused his authority  since taking office in 2012 by waging illegal wars in foreign countries (i.e., Mali, Syria) without consulting his electors. [1] He  recently failed to confer with them when his Socialist government responded to last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris by adopting Orwellian domestic policies – policies that have allowed the Hollande administration to spy on citizens , block websites containing “terrorist related content” , strip convicted “terrorists” of French citizenship , and criminalize activism against Israeli occupation .[2] These policies prevent the spread of information which may expose the government’s criminal activities. We should note, here, that the state of emergency greatly facilitates political corruption. [3] To put it briefly, the state of...

EDITORIAL: Be Careful Italy

Ne News 2 June 2018 As you may be aware, there was a constitutional crisis in Italy following the decision to make a Eurosceptic Italian Finance Minister, which resulted in the Italian President to dissolve the government. Just a couple of days ago, this was resolved. However, it is worth noting that one of the parties in this coalition is the far-right wing Northern League, as well as the Five Star Movement. However, the people of Italy must be careful, especially in regards to the Northern League, as they may be the party to destroy Italy’s sovereignty and hand it over to the unelected and unaccountable European Union, which is increasingly becoming a fascist police state. That’s right, despite denying it and claiming that they are Eurosceptics, the Northern League may actually be the most pro-European Union party in the Italian Government. Throughout the world (and in particular the Western World), we are seeing the rise of far-right wing parties who claim ...

Big Pharma: An Example of the Best ‘Democracy’ Money Can Buy

Monica Cruz Liberation News 23 May 2018 The U.S. government constantly vilifies Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, and other governments it opposes, claiming that they are not democracies. Republicans and Democrats alike warn of “oppressive regimes” while telling us that the U.S. is a true democracy, and everyone here has a say through voting. But a closer look reveals that the deciding factor in U.S. “democracy” is not the vote at all, but the dollar bill. Policies are made and unmade not because of the number of votes they get, but because corporations spend hundreds of millions of dollars on ‘lobbying,’ and other ways of paying off law makers to pass the laws they want. Take the pharmaceutical industry. Virtually everyone takes medication at one time or another, and access to medicine can mean life or death. Many people cannot afford medication. In a recent poll, the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 80 percent of people in the U.S.  believe drug c...
